At least seven people were killed in two shootings in the California hamlet of Half Moon Bay. Authorities have not established whether the two incidents are connected. The accused perpetrator of the attacks has been apprehended.
According to local media, at least seven individuals were killed in two shootings in Half Moon Bay, a community of little over 11,000 people situated 19 kilometers south of San Francisco (California, United States).
Four people were discovered dead at a mushroom farm along the Cabrillo Freeway near Half Moon Bay.
According to local media sources, officials discovered a fifth person in the same region who was critically injured and was transferred to a neighboring hospital.
It is yet uncertain if the death toll is conclusive or whether anyone was harmed as a result of the incident.
"The Sheriff's Office is responding to a mass shooting in the vicinity of Highway 92 and the municipal boundaries of Half Moon Bay," the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office, which includes Half Moon, stated in a statement. Bay, in a short statement that provided no other information.
According to the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office, the accused perpetrator of the attacks was apprehended by authorities. According to local media, the suspect has been identified as Zhao Chunli, 67.
"At this moment, there is no ongoing threat to the community," officials said.
The latest massacre occurred less than 48 hours after a shooter massacred 11 people at a dance class in Los Angeles.
California Governor Gavin Newsom , who was in Monterey Park where the massacre took place, took to Twitter moments after news of the new killings broke.
"At the hospital meeting with the victims of a major shooting when they drew me away to notify me about another shooting. This time, we're at Half Moon Bay. "Tragedy follows tragedy," he wrote.
ABC7 showed images of a guy being arrested while his equipment was being set up in front of a police station.
The Iowa Police Department said that two children were murdered and a teacher was injured in a shooting at a Des Moines school on the outskirts of the city center on Monday afternoon.
The incident occurred during a Des Moines school district-affiliated instructional program called Starts Right Here.
According to police, emergency personnel were summoned to the school soon before 1 p.m. (local time). Officers arrived to find two badly wounded students and immediately began CPR. Both students perished in a hospital.
Police said officers intercepted a car about two miles away and arrested "several suspects" about 20 minutes after the incident.
