The Turkish province of Elazig was jolted by a 4.9 magnitude earthquake today. The tremor was felt in Malatya and neighboring areas.

At 06:36 a.m., an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.9 struck Sivrice, Elazig.


The epicenter of the earthquake occurred in the Elaz province Sivrice-Kavakl area, according to data from the Boaziçi University Kandilli Observatory, and the depth was 3 km.


"An earthquake of 4.9 magnitude occurred at 06:36 in the Sivrice area of Elazig province," according to AFAD. There is currently no negative notification; our field surveys with our relevant units are ongoing. We are watching the developments".


The Elazig Governorship claimed in a statement that the teams arrived in the region following the earthquake.

In the statement, which indicated that the activities in the region were ongoing, the following remarks were included: "As of now, our teams have been transported to the region and there are no bad reports. Our scanning effort is ongoing."

NO LOSS OF LIFE AND PROPERTY

Governor Mer Toraman declared on his social media account that there was no terrible scenario and stated, "No unfavorable reports were received from our Kavall village, which is the core of the earthquake that happened in our Sivrice district, and from the neighboring villages this morning. Our AFAD and law enforcement personnel are still searching in the field. "Get better soon".


"Thankfully, it was our greatest comfort that there was no loss of life and property following the 4.9-magnitude earthquake that happened in our city," said Mayor ahin erifoullar. I extend my warmest wishes to all of our countrymen once more. "Our teams in the field are on high alert," he added.


On the other hand, the moment of the earthquake was captured on a restaurant's security camera. When the earthquake occurs in the clip, the personnel and customers inside begin to flee in fear.


On January 24, 2020, a 6.8 magnitude earthquake centered in the evrimtaş hamlet in Sivrice district killed 41 people.
