In downtown Paris, an unknown shooter killed three people and wounded others. On Friday afternoon, the Paris public prosecutor announced a third fatality. She had earlier reported two deaths and four injuries, two of which were critical.

The rounds were fired, among other locations, in a Kurdish community center. According to Alexandra Cordebard, mayor of Paris's tenth arrondissement, the assailant also shot at a restaurant and a hairdresser salon beside the center. The reason for the conduct was first unknown. There is no longer a threat. The fire department and rescue personnel were also on the scene.

A 69-year-old guy was detained and is being held by police. His identification is being verified at the moment. According to police sources, the suspect was a Frenchman who had already attempted two murders. According to French media sources, the suspect is a guy who formerly worked for a French train business.

He is not on the secret service's list of those in risk. Borough Mayor Alexandra Cordebard stated he was injured and was brought to the hospital.

There were seven or eight bullets fired, and there is fear "According to an eyewitness who spoke to the AFP news agency. The crime site is on a little street with various eateries, not far from the famous department shops of Paris' boulevards. "We witnessed an old white man who walked to the Kurdish center and fired there," Romain, a local restaurant cook, claimed. The man then proceeded to a nearby hairdresser establishment. "We took sanctuary with the restaurant workers," he explained.

The public prosecutor's office is investigating for murder and serious violence. The judicial police is initially responsible, not the terror prosecutor's office. "I saw two police officers go into a hairdressing salon where two people were lying on the ground, their legs were injured," said a local resident. "There were seven or eight shots, there is panic," said an eyewitness to the AFP news agency.

France's Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin wants to go to the scene of the attack after the deadly shots in Paris. Darmanin wrote of a "dramatic shooting" on Twitter on Friday. All of his thoughts are with the families of the victims.

The victims and their families were also remembered by Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo. A psychological support service will be established at the town hall of the 10th arrondissement.

The culprit might be overwhelmed on the scene, according to the Kurdish public relations center "Civaka Azad" in Berlin. "A representative of the Kurdish Cultural Center in Paris, with whom we were able to talk, tells of a targeted attack on the Kurdish community in the French capital," he was detained a short time later.
