Approximately one week prior to the beginning of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, thousands of migrant workers took part in a World Cup rally held in the nation's capital city of Doha. A journalist working for the news agency AFP saw on Friday that participants in the march had flags and shirts from Argentina, Brazil, and England with them as they congregated on the beach promenade to participate in the march, which also passed the Royal Palace.

Rallies and demonstrations are extremely uncommon in Qatar, and when they do occur, they are typically accompanied by heightened security. The event was put together via various social media platforms. One of the march's organizers, who requested anonymity in order to speak freely, stated that "the police were told in advance."

The majority of the players were from Kerala, which is known as a powerhouse in the sport of football and is located in India. In addition, she is a significant contributor to Qatar's Indian community, which comprises over 750,000 individuals. More than 80 percent of the Gulf Emirate's overall population is comprised of people who were born in other countries. The total population of the Gulf Emirate is approximately 2.8 million people.

One of the organizers of the march stated that the foreign employees in Qatar have a strong passion for football and have purchased a significant number of tickets.

Criticism of the human rights situation in Qatar

"This is a happy day for us," remarked a guy who identified himself as Rajesh. Most marchers refused to reveal their complete identities in order to keep their employers from discovering they were at the gathering.

"Of sure, some of us have challenging jobs, we hear the stories," said one participant, "but the World Cup is a once-in-a-lifetime event."

Qatar has been chastised for its human rights record as the World Cup host country. The World Cup kicks off on November 20th. The World Cup will be staged in an Arab country for the first time, and for the first time not in the summer, but towards the end of the year.
