Konami has revealed not just a remake of Silent Hill 2 but also three new games, a movie, and a TV series based on the horror franchise.
Because of the anticipation of the fans, Konami had to wait even longer to release the game. But now it can be said with certainty that Silent Hill is coming back, and it's bringing a good selection of new (and old) games with it. Because not only did they reveal three brand new games, but they also announced a remake of the classic horror game Silent Hill 2 and a film adaptation.
Here, we'll go down everything we know about the announced Silent Hill games. One thing is for certain though: this news should come as a total blessing to Fabiano, the horror aficionado. This is because Silent Hill 2, his all-time favorite narrative game, returns, yet the first game is so outdated that it's almost unplayable.
Silent Hill: What new games have been announced?
First things first: In a live stream from October 19 to 20, 2022, Konami officially announced three new Silent Hill games and the new edition of Part 2. The titles of the projects are as follows:
*Silent Hill 2 Remake
*Silent Hill: Townfall
*Silent Hill: F
*Silent Hill: Ascension
Last but not least, a new feature film helmed by Christophe Gans is also in the works with Return to Silent Hill. There are no current specifics regarding Gans's new project, however he did stage the first cinematic version of Silent Hill in 2006.
Silent Hill 2 Remake
It's unclear what kind of game this will be. Naturally, this is a redo of Silent Hill 2 from back in 2001. Developers Bloober (Layers of Fear) are at the helm of the remake, which also has contributions from original series vets like concept designer Masahiro Ito and composer Akira Yamaoka.
The new version is built using Lumen and Naninte technology and is powered by Unreal Engine 5, and it has updated combat and environments. No loading delays are acceptable. There is currently no release date for the Silent Hill 2 Remake, which will be available for the PC on Steam and as a time-exclusive for the Playstation 5.
Why is everyone in Silent Hill 2 so freaked out? A letter from his late wife Mary prompts widower James Sunderland to visit the enigmatic settlement of Silent Hill. There, he encounters shady figures and confronts horrifying beasts.
The first trailer for the remake of Silent Hill 2 may be seen below.
The original is renowned for its gloomy and foreboding horror atmosphere, making it one of the best horror classics. Also, according to Fabiano's opinion expressed in one of our GameStar podcasts, the plot of Silent Hill 2 is something that no gamer should miss.
Silent Hill: Townfall
Together, Annapurna Interactive (Stray, Solar Ash, Outer Wilds) and No Code developed Silent Hill: Townfall ( Observation , Stories Untold ). The first teaser trailer is still mysterious, but it's packed to the brim with mood. The question of what sort of game Townfall should be and when it should launch on which platforms is still open.
Silent Hill: F
The 1960s Japan setting of Silent Hill: F reflects the game's goal to blend Japanese aesthetics with traditional horror tropes. Writer Ryukishi07, who specializes in graphic novels of crime and horror, is one of the persons behind the project. Additionally, the game's gameplay, release date, or supported platforms are not listed.
Silent Hill: Ascension
It's more accurate to describe Silent Hill: Ascension as an interactive streaming experience than a traditional video game. It's only right that director J.J. Abrams (Star Wars, Star Trek) and his video game company, Bad Robot Games, are involved. The anticipated delivery date is set for 2023.
