If you're still seeking for the perfect frightening movie for Halloween, check these five options.
Horror films belong to Halloween, just as cheesy Christmas movies belong to Advent. All horror enthusiasts will be satisfied in October with these five new flicks. However, "Halloween Ends," the dismal new film, is not one of them.
Mr. Harrigan's Phone (2022)
Craig (Jaeden Martell) is a young man who befriends the old millionaire John Harrigan ( Donald Sutherland ). Craig gives the old guy a mobile phone one day so he can connect with him better. Harrigan first refuses, but is persuaded by his young companion. Craig is saddened when the billionaire dies a few time later. He does, however, unintentionally learn that he may speak with Harrigan through cell phone. This, however, has lethal effects.
The plot, which stars legendary actor Donald Sutherland as a haunted mobile phone ghost, is based on Stephen King's novella of the same name. The terror level isn't extremely great, but the main character's interesting progression keeps things moving.
Run (2020)
Chloe Sherman (Kiera Allen), a brilliant 17-year-old, suffers from a variety of ailments and lives alone with her mother Diane ( Sarah Paulson ). She discovers a weird medicine that does not fit her symptoms and begins examining it. She gradually realizes that her mother is probably attempting to sedate her so she won't be able to go to college and leave her. Chloe tries to flee and discovers more horrifying secrets about the lady who has been holding her hostage for so long.
The narrative of the imprisoned girl in her own home gets under your skin and, for others, brings up painful memories of adolescence.
The School for Good and Evil (2022)
Sophie (Sophia Anne Caruso) and Agatha (Sofia Wylie), two unlikely companions, attend a magic school where heroes and villains are taught. However, in the war between good and evil, they end themselves on opposing sides. Agatha, who lives in a graveyard, is intended to grow into a heroine, while royal fan Sophie is supposed to be upset. Their friendship is pushed to the test as a result of this.
The brilliantly colored narrative about friendship and magic should go well with adolescent fans, but the combination of "Harry Potter" and "Bridgerton" has true smash potential. Charlize Theron (47) as Lady Lesso and Laurence Fishburne (61, "Matrix") as the schoolmaster are also in the cast.
The Good Nurse (2022)
Without a doubt, fictitious horror stories are thrilling. However, it becomes extremely frightening when the narrative is based on an actual story. Nurse Amy (Jessica Chastain) accuses her colleague, nurse Charlie (Eddie Redmayne), of being complicit in the strange deaths of multiple patients in "The Good Nurse." In her pursuit of the truth, she must act quickly so that no more victims are killed by the serial murderer.
In 2003, the news of serial murderer Charlie Cullen, who worked as a caretaker in numerous facilities in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, rocked the country. He admitted to 13 homicides and two attempted homicides. However, it is believed that he is responsible for many more deaths.
Wendell & Wild (2022)
Demon brothers Wendell (Keegan-Michael Key) and Wild (Jordan Peele) face up against nun Sister Helly (Angela Bassett). The two attempt to enter the mortal realm with the assistance of the acolyte Kat (Lyric Ross).
Director Henry Selick's follow-up to "Coraline" (2009) is a stop-motion horror film with meticulous attention to detail. After a few changes, an eerily beautiful narrative has evolved, evocative of Selick's "The Nightmare Before Christmas" (1993).
