Ana de Armas finds it "disgusting" that certain sexual sequences from the film "Blonde" would be taken out of context and circulated on social media.
Ana de Armas is yet another interpretation who has given life to the great Marilyn Monroe in the newly released film, Blonde, about a vision of the Hollywood star's past. And, although being from different eras, the women have much more in common than their passion and enthusiasm for performing.
The 34-year-old actress, who was born and raised in Cuba and then traveled to Spain before settling in Los Angeles, was able to channel her own worries and insecurities into a character that dreaded rejection as much as she did.
"I tackled the whole picture by channeling my feelings - how I felt playing the part. Accepting my anxieties and vulnerabilities, as well as my discomfort and insecurities, "According to Ana de Armas in an interview with Variety.
According to the star, some of those insecurities followed her off the set because, despite the fact that the filming of Blonde ended three years ago, she has become a highly sought-after star, a magnet for the paparazzi, and, of course, a victim of symbolic gender violence and the scrutiny of social networks for the tape's controversial sexual scenes.
"It's been an emotional roller coaster. We're relaying her narrative from her perspective. I'm making them feel the same way she did. It was difficult for everyone when we had to film sequences like Kennedy's. But I also knew I had to go there to find out the truth "Ana de Armas told the newspaper a few days before the Netflix debut of Blonde, as well as at the Venice International Picture Festival, where the film earned a standing ovation. At 14 minutes, it is the longest film ever made.
Although the actress has played roles unrelated to Marilyn in previous projects such as The Gray Man and Knives Out, the misery of being the focus of extreme interest for reasons other than her job remains.
"It was one of the factors that drew me closer to Marilyn. Monroe, after all, was a serious actor even when she was solely regarded as a prop. She was passionate about what she did. She loved her job and held it in high regard. He just did not get it back "revealed the interpreter
Ana, like the famed Hollywood blonde, is solely concerned with being acknowledged for her efforts.
"That is something I want to be known for. I'm not interested in the other side. Some individuals find it simpler to accept that. Some people even enjoy it. I'm among those who would rather not have it "He said.
As a result, the actress finds it "disgusting" to consider that certain sexual sequences in the film, in which she appears nude, would be decontextualized and circulated on social media after the film's debut this Wednesday.
"I did things in this film that I would never do for anybody else. I did it for both her and Andrew (Dominik, the director). I'm sure it'll become viral, and it's horrible. It's upsetting just thinking about it. I have no control over it; you have no control over what they do or how they take things out of context. It didn't make me rethink; it only left me with a nasty taste in my mouth when I thought about the future of those clips."
Ana de Armas is not the first Hollywood celebrity who has been subjected to online abuse and non-consensual viralization of audios, photographs, or videos of her sexual scenes. Stars like as Margot Robbie, Florence Pugh, Scarlett Johansson, and Jennifer Lawrence, among others, have all experienced this form of gender abuse and have spoken out against the marginalization of her work and lack of acknowledgment.
"When it comes to your sex scenes or witnessing the world's most famous guy having sex with someone, that's not why we do it. That is not why I am in this business "Florence Pugh stated to ELLE magazine lately. while coping with her sexual moments in the film Don't Worry Darling, directed by Olivia Wilde and co-written by Harry Styles.
