The anti-aircraft missile complex known as NASAMS is going to be supplied with two batteries for the Ukraine's air defense system.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, and they cited a statement made on the air by Yuriy Ignat, the spokesperson for the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. "Radio NV" is a Ukrainian radio station.
"It was not two parts that were promised to us but rather two batteries. We are aware that only a select few nations in the world possess such sophisticated weapons, and that many more are now in the queue to acquire them "he stated.
Ignat pointed out that it is now difficult to specify the precise number of systems, which he mentioned at the same time.
According to the spokesperson for the command of the Air Force Base of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, "We are talking about two batteries that not only include launchers, but also various machinery for charging, recognizing targets, and maintaining complexes."
According to the reports, the installation of the Norwegian mobile battery of NASAMS medium-range anti-aircraft missiles would make it possible to significantly increase the level of security afforded to the airspace over Ukraine.
It is important to remember that on June 27, the White House made an announcement stating that the United States will provide Ukraine with contemporary medium- and long-range air defense systems, but they did not specify which systems would be sent. An administration official who requested anonymity said that the Biden administration intends to buy NASAMS for Ukraine.
At the same time, military personnel from Ukraine have already begun receiving instruction in how to operate the Norwegian anti-aircraft missile system known as NASAMS.
