Tourism in Italy in the early months of 2022 starts to exhibit solid indications of recovery, as emerges from the data of Federalberghi, Nexi and Zucchetti who have documented the attendance and spending of visitors in hotels and popular attractions in our country for this summer.
In fact, if it is true that the presence of tourists in our hotels in the period January-May 2022 has not yet returned to pre-pandemic levels (a decrease of 3.1 percent for Italians and 6.8 percent for foreigners compared to 2019 ), the result of the month of May gives good hope, in which Federalberghi records a solid + 33.4 percent for leisure tourism , the result of + 13.5 percent of Italian presences and + 45.8 percent of foreign ones. A substantial gain compared to what was observed in April, when the presence of visitors in Italian hotels grew by 10.5 percent compared to 2019, but with foreigners who registered a fall of 26.3 percent .
" We are confident that the good performances achieved by the Easter holidays and the long weekends of April 25 and June 2 are the prelude to a positive summer - affirms Alessandro Massimo Nucara, General Manager of Federalberghi - and that the second part of the year will allow us to soothe at least in part the wounds inflicted on businesses over the past two tragic years, which we want to put behind us as soon as possible ”.
Not only attendance is recovering, but also tourist expenses, as emerges from the Nexi data which examined purchases by Italians and foreigners in our hotels : from the PayTech analysis it emerges that in May 2022 they grew overall by 13 , 7 percent vs May 2019, specifically + 25.6 percent for Italians and 9 percent for foreigners.
These are especially noteworthy facts in account, above all, of the significance that tourism has in our country: according to the World Travel & Tourist Council , the contribution produced by the travel and tourism business to the Italian GDP is equivalent to 13, 1 percent .
" The recovery of expenses in hotels is an encouraging sign, as tourism is one of the fundamental assets for the economy of our country and confirms how digital payment tools are chosen by an increasing number of merchants and citizens who prefer them for the comfort, safety and speed they guarantee ” says Enrico Trovati, Nexi Merchant Services & Solutions Director.
Seaside tourism in the summer of 2022 in our nation will cover nearly the whole boot, as emerges from a study by Zucchetti and Lybra.tech (a subsidiary of the Group) based on data from the Travel Data Lake , an innovative initiative by the Italian software house. Among the most popular places are the Venetian beaches (index number = 100), the Romagna Riviera (98), the Etruscan Coast (78), the Costa Smeralda (65), Salento (56), but also the island of 'Elba (28), the Amalfi Coast (28), the northern coast of Sicily (25) and the South Tuscan Maremma (24). (24). Finally, for the amount of searches carried out, this year it is the inhabitants of the States who are most interested in going on vacation to our nation.
“Our method of analysis is extremely innovative - comments Angelo Guaragni, director of Zucchetti Hospitality - because it allows us to elaborate accurate forecasts using artificial intelligence techniques to cross-reference the data of over 15,000 accommodation facilities and the preferences expressed online by consumers. A clear illustration of how beneficial technology can be in supporting the strategic decisions of hotels ".
