Beating the world's No. 11 ranked player, Wang Ji Yi, was not an easy task for Sindhu. Sindhu began the match, which included of three games, by claiming victory in the first game. Sindhu got off to a winning start. In the opening game, he beat the Chinese player Wang by a score of 21-9. After then, Wang staged a comeback and won the second game 21-11, bringing the match to a tie.
The third and final game, which was a very intense one, began from this location. Both players were giving each other a run for their money up until the first 8–10 points were scored. But PV Sindhu eventually grabbed control of the match and won the third game by a score of 21-15, clinching the championship for herself in the process.
