Chicago police warn thieves are targeting construction workers |
The Chicago Police Department is alerting construction workers in the city that they are a target for thieves who have committed crimes in the months of April and May.
The police said the criminals approached individuals who were working on the construction of apartment complexes, showed a firearm in their face, and demanded that they turn up their belongings.
According to the police, the perpetrators brandished the revolver, struck the guys in the head with it, took stuff from the victims, and then left the scene.
The most recent events took place in the following locations:
★In the 7300 block of south Phillips Avenue on April 17, 2022 at twelve in the morning.
★On Thursday, April 18, 2022 at 12:30 p.m., the 7200 block of south Ridgeland Avenue.
★6600 block of south Greenwood Avenue on the 4th of May, 2022 at 4:00 o'clock in the afternoon.
★7200 block of south East End Avenue on the 4th of May, 2022 at 5:00 o'clock in the afternoon.
★On the 10th of May, 2022 at 2:00 p.m., the 7200 block of south Dorchester Avenue.
The police issued a warning to the public to be vigilant of their surroundings and to quickly report anything that seemed strange.
When confronted with an attacker, police recommend maintaining composure, making an effort to memorise the individual's physical traits, refraining from pursuing the person, and reporting any relevant information to authorities after dialling 9-1-1.
