 HIPOLITO YRIGOYEN, A FILMMAKER FROM 1916. Abolitionist leader Hipólito Yrigoyen is elected president of the country in the first elections conducted under the Sáenz Pea legislation, which was passed in 1912 to ensure that everyone could vote and prevent electoral fraud.


ALBERT EINSTEIN was born in 1925. This year's school year at the Rafael Hernández National School of Buenos Aires was kicked off by German physicist Albert Einstein, who was honoured with a Nobel Prize in Physics in 1921 for his Theory of Relativity.


In the year 1959, ALBERTO FERNANDEZ is born. Buenos Aires is the birthplace of lawyer Alberto ngel Fernández, president of the Nation and professor at the University of Buenos Aires Faculty of Law.


MARTINEZ DE HOZ debuted in 1976. The dictatorship's "Program for the recuperation, restructuring, and extension of the Argentine economy" is announced by Economy Minister José Martnez de Hoz. Economic stagnation and inflation resurfaced as a result of the strategy.


The Falklands War of 1982 Port Stanley, the capital of the Malvinas and afterwards known as Puerto Argentino, is taken over by the Argentines, who oust the British authorities who had seized control of the islands back in 1833. The struggle with the British lasted for 74 days, during which 649 Argentines were killed.


1997: THE WHITE TENT. Teachers' unions CTERA have set up a camp of white tents in front of the National Congress building in Buenos Aires to demand better pay and a bill to fund public education.


José Dezer passes away in 1997. The journalist José de Zer (José Keizer) dies in Buenos Aires at the age of 56.


Ascends. One of the most revered pontiffs of all time, Pope John Paul II died in Vatican City on March 2, 2013, aged 84. Pope Francis canonised him in 2014.


BARBIERI, "CAT" - 2016. An American city mourns the loss of Argentine jazz artist Leandro "Gato" Barbieri, who was regarded as one of the greatest Latin American saxophonists of all time.


Literacy for children in 2022. The goal of World Children's Book Day, which has been observed annually since 1967, is to encourage young people to read and to raise awareness about the importance of children's literature. It honours the Danish author Hans Christian Andersen, well known for his popular children's tales, who was born in 1805.


Autism Awareness Year 2022. Every year, the United Nations has established World Autism Awareness Day to raise awareness of autism spectrum diseases and the need to enhance the quality of life for those affected.


Reflection and memory will be the focus of our work in 2022. Memorials honouring those who died in the Malvinas War and Veterans Day have been held annually since 2000.
