YouTube Vanced |
The alternative video manager YouTube Vanced, which had previously been banned from the Play Store on March 13, but was still operating on earlier versions of Android, was flagged by Google Play Protect as “harmful” and “dangerous” for devices on which it's installed. Also, the online store security feature is prompting consumers to delete the programme
But what makes Vanced Manager so serious? First of all, it was not an official YouTube app, but it enabled its users to view videos from the site. In addition, it provided various free additions, such as ad removal, picture-in-picture (PiP) mode and, more recently, the hate counter view, which had a tremendous influence on the fan base.
Why did Google Play Protect mark Vanced as "harmful"?
As of right now, most Android devices have Google Play Protect installed. For "sideloaded" programmes, such as Fortnite, which was released straight from Epic Games, the reason is to serve as a form of antivirus. In this manner, the tool protects both Google and its users against harmful activity.
Vanced Manager may have crossed a hazardous line by giving certain capabilities that YouTube didn't and, worse, others that only Premium users had, but for free. It's not obvious why Mountain View has labelled Vanced Manager "destructive" and "dangerous."
