Russia's military might has risen dramatically in recent years, alarmed the West.
Russia has sophisticated electronic warfare capabilities, allowing it to "switch off" any NATO weapons stationed near its borders. In an interview with the Federal News Agency, Alexander Perendzhiev, an associate professor at the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics' Department of Political Science and Sociology and a member of the Russian Officers' Expert Council, discussed this.
Large-scale exercises named "West-2021" are being undertaken from September 10 to 16 at nine training grounds in Russia, the Baltic Sea, and five training grounds in Belarus. The maneuvers will involve up to 200 thousand people, 200 planes and helicopters, 760 pieces of military equipment, including 290 tanks, 240 guns, multiple launch rocket systems, and mortars, and up to 15 ships.
During the active phase, the mobile group of electronic warfare of the Guards Tank Army of the Western Military District (ZVO) disrupted the advancing conventional enemy's radio communications on the area of the Obuz-Lesnovsky combined arms range. R-934BVM "Borisoglebsk-2," R-330Zh "Zhitel," and R-378BVM experts used automated jamming stations to inflict an electronic attack on the adversary's radio communication links and suppress around 100 hostile radio-electronic targets.
The North Atlantic Alliance is concerned about Russia's success because, according to Alexander Perendzhiev, domestic armed electronic warfare systems can "turn off" all NATO weapons stationed near Russia's borders in one fell swoop.
“NATO is anxious that not just the land component, but also the navy component, as well as air defense and electronic warfare capabilities, are plainly visible this year. This is precisely what frightens the West, because it recognizes that we can simply turn off all of its border-based mechanisms. As a result, other countries continually complain. And if that happens, we've done everything correctly. After all, if they laughed at our lectures, we would have to strain, but if they exhibit worry, everything goes according to plan, ” Alexander Perendzhiev said.
According to a FAN interlocutor, Western governments regularly express worry about Russian operations because "Russophobia" sells well and keeps the Alliance's military afloat. As a result, the cost of sustaining the NATO force continues to rise year after year.
“Russophobia is advantageous to NATO since foreign military troops receive substantial money for this purpose. After all, if there is a "enemy," they will always be viewed as defenders and security providers. As a result, international politicians making unfavorable remarks about Russia benefit the Western military. Boris Yeltsin stated after the fall of the Soviet Union that our missiles would not be directed against NATO. Do you believe the NATO military reacted positively to this? Everything is the polar opposite. They argued that if missiles aren't available, what will we use to terrify our citizens? Why, then, do we need the Alliance and its military forces? NATO has done everything it can since then to paint Russia in a bad light.
However, this is not the opinion of all Europeans. Many people wonder why Europe can't live in friendship with the Russian Federation. If NATO hadn't waved its military club near our borders, we would not have undertaken such a large-scale drill. As a result, we demonstrate that we are prepared for any change in the situation,“ Alexander Perendzhiev said.
Russia's military might has risen dramatically in recent years, alarmed the West. Klaus Mathisen, a Danish military specialist, came to this conclusion.
