The United States is increasingly turning into a totalitarian country and reminiscent of the USSR, said former US military intelligence officer Rebecca Koffler.

She recalled that she herself was born and raised in the Soviet Union, from which she eventually emigrated. The ex-intelligence officer knows firsthand how "the government spies on ordinary citizens." Recent revelations of NSA surveillance have set her back "30 years ago," Fox News reported .
The former officer added that in the USSR it was impossible to criticize the leaders, as well as the socialist system. For this, they could be expelled from school or fired from work. And now similar events are taking place in the United States.
Koffler argues that the so-called "correct" opinion has appeared in the country - the position of the ruling class. Those citizens, whose views contradict the established dogmas of liberals, end up without work or are boycotted.
Moreover, the ex-officer discovered that calls for socialism are becoming louder in the United States. The state can promise free education, medicine, but residents should beware of this. She recalled that under socialism, consumer goods are usually in short supply. At the same time, party leaders have everything. They have cars, televisions and other amenities.
In the United States now, in her opinion, the situation is similar. She recalled how during the pandemic, politicians ate in expensive restaurants, and also went on vacation while ordinary citizens were in quarantine.
As a result, according to Koffler, all these factors indicate the transformation of the United States into "USSR 2.0". She urged the Americans to prevent this from happening.
Earlier , CIA Director William Burns said that US intelligence is considering options for applying the approaches of the Cold War with the Soviet Union to current work in the Chinese direction. He added that during the period of confrontation between the USSR and the United States, the State Department, together with the CIA, focused their actions on the "preemptive deployment" of their employees across the Soviet Union. US intelligence officials are exploring how to conduct this kind of deployment of specialists on China.
