A Hare was making fun of Turtle one day for a slow walk.
"Have you been anywhere?" He asked with a sneer.
"Yes," replied Turtle, "and I'm coming sooner than you think. I'll run the race and confirm it."
Hare was amused by the idea of running a race with Turtle, but it was fun with something he agreed with. So the fox, who had agreed to be the judge, marked the distance and started the runners.
The Rabbit was far from being seen, and to make Turtle feel very deep about how foolish it was for him to try to race through the Hare, he lay on the side of the course to sleep for a while until Turtle arrived.
Turtle at this time kept moving slowly but steadily, and, after a while, passed the place where Rabbit lay. But Rabbit slept very peacefully; When he finally woke up, Turtle was close to the goal. Rabbit now ran faster, but he could not overtake Turtle on time.
